stories from the nerd herd

i recently finished an addictive anthology of short stories called geektastic, edited by holly black and cecil castellucci. it’s like a collection of little reminders that there are other geeks out there thinking and living the same geekish dreams as i am.

for the week that i was reading the book, i looked like this pretty much all the time (although i did change my outfit daily, as you can imagine :)).

  1. Here’s the list: M.T. Anderson, Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, John Green, Tracy Lynn, Cynthia and Greg Leitich Smith, David Levithan, Kelly Link, Barry Lyga, Wendy Mass, Garth Nix, Scott Westerfield, Lisa Yee, and Sara Zarr

    • I am a big fan of M.T. Anderson (I met him at ALA–cue fangirl moment!) and Scott Westerfeld. Cynthia Leitich Smith and I follow each other on Twitter (although she is clearly a much bigger deal than I am.) And I really liked Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, one half of which was written by David Levithan. But all those authors are big names in YA lit, so you can’t go wrong with any of them :)
